Life is a Game and Everything is Made Up
So it's better to learn how to influence it rather than just getting dragged along
“When you grow up you tend to get told that the world is the way it is and your life is just to live your life inside the world, try not to bash into the walls too much, try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money.
That’s a very limited life.
Life can be much broader, once you discover one simple fact, and that is that everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you.
And you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use.
Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”
-Steve Jobs
Yeah, I’m really out here quoting Steve Jobs like an absolute basic… boy… but damn he was onto something when he gave this interview.
I honestly have nothing to add to this.
I just think you should know that this is the truth.
Everything you think is just “how it is” was invented by people who came before you and weren’t necessarily smarter.
Life is a videogame you can play, break and manipulate, not a movie that you just happen to be taking part in. In a movie stuff just “happens” to you. In a game, you decide what happens and when.
What are you going to do about it?
Let me close this out with a fucking amazing quote from someone else you’ll think is cliche to quote:
“Most of societies rules and traditions are based on when people were dying at 50 years old
… when you should get married, what you should do and what you should have accomplished is literally based on the last centuries DNA”
-Gary Vee
This piece made my day. I can relate a lot to the Gary vee quote. What drives me mad are not the old century rules, but people blindly stick to it and are not able to question them. Imagine a discussion about that 🤠
Basic Boy could be awesome brand name. I will wear that 😅
